Inner Mongolia: Bayan Oboo Festival

On July 9th, 2013, the ChinaVine team visited the Bayan Oboo near East Ujimqin, Inner Mongolia to partake in a tradition dating back thousands of years. Ancient Mongolian shamans constructed the Oboo in a time long ago to practice traditional customs and rituals of Mongolian people. At the festival celebrating the Oboo, thousands of people gather together to make three clockwise circles around the stone monuments, offering traditional food and drink such as milk and cheese to the ancient deities.
