Chinese farmers’ paintings are a modern folk are, influenced by traditional arts such as paper cuts and colorful embroidery. They are found throughout China; however, the style of each painting can change depending on what region they are painted in. Using gouache watercolors on thin rice paper, the paintings describe simple pleasures of everyday farm life with brilliant and vibrant colors.
